About This Project

HORSE PARADE Belgium 2005 was a travelling open-air exhibition organized after the huge success of the ART ON COWS Brussels (2003) to celebrate Belgium’s 175th anniversary. The horse as an animal of great beauty was chosen as a symbol to decorate in different formats: the noble horse, a towing horse and finally a small rocking horse. 175 fibreglass horses were positioned at the Royal Army Museum to be decorated by many different artists for a parade  moving from Brussels to Liège, Knokke-Heinst, Waregem, Anvers and coming back to Brussels from 21 June to 21 September. The opening took place the 21st June on the Esplanade of the Cinquantenaire, a symbolic location for the history of Belgium. The NIGHT HORSE was conceived for Espace 53, decorated with a mosaic of CDs and mirrors reduced to small pieces to reflect daylight and with fluorescent painting to be visible at night.
